GLMS WELCOMES PHYSICIANS TO ITS ANNUAL INTERACTIVE LEADERSHIP COURSE The 2014 GLMS Leadership Course brought 50 physicians together for an energetic morning of learning and team based exercises at The Old Medical School Building on Oct. 11. The four-hour course was anchored by Steve Coats, a professional speaker and co-founder of International Leadership Associates, a Cincinnati-based leadership education and consulting firm. Coats encouraged the diverse group of physicians to analyze what makes a team effective and ineffective. Relaying that there was more pressure on physicians than ever, Coats likened the modern health care environment to white water rafting. “Where’s the placid little stream we’ve come to expect?” he asked. Coats focused on collaboration and accountability while urging physicians in attendance to be more selfless and understanding when working with members of their respective teams. “You are in an industry that needs more leadership everywhere,” he said. The 2014 GLMS Leadership Course was sponsored in part by Stock Yards Bank & Trust with additional support provided by the GLMS Foundation.
