Conversely, if someone gives you a compliment, take it with pride. It’ s not arrogant to accept a compliment. According to Lisa, if you reply with a“ yeah, but,” you’ re still deflecting the compliment at your own expense.
“ I don’ t think we should hide behind what we don’ t have. We should stand with what we do have,” she said.
This is where Lisa delineates the line between comfortable and uncomfortable courage. On one end of the spectrum is insecurity, a refusal to see your strengths and abilities. On the other far end is arrogance, where one might think they’ re above everyone else. In between lie comfortable and uncomfortable courage.
Comfortable courage is when you can confidently say that you’ re good at something or you learned to be good at something. It’ s the kind of courage that gets you through the day.
Uncomfortable courage is when you’ re able to get through what you thought was impossible.
These are wins, big and small, that should be celebrated. You can look back on these wins when you’ re feeling down or unmotivated and remind yourself that you’ ve taken a leap of faith before.
