Leadership Style Quiz: Which of the Four Temperaments Are You?

5. An outside partner will cause a massive delay for your team’ s project. Which of these are you most likely to do?
a. First, I’ ll speak with the team to get their perspective on the matter. Then, I’ ll meet with the partner company and try to talk it out. Express the team’ s concerns on their behalf and reach a compromise.
b. Have a one-on-one with the leading team member from the other company. Let them know that their actions are causing a delay. Then, I’ ll circle back to the team and have them be ready any time to continue the project.
c. Work with what the team has and figure out a plan based on our situation. If we get the cooperation of the outside company, we’ ll devise a plan on how to get our deliverables out without sacrificing quality.
d. We will do what we can with what we have, but my team will have to work at our own pace. I’ ll reassure the team that the situation will turn out fine and we’ ll just have to plan around the delay.
If you answered mostly A, your dominant temperament is Sanguine.
Sanguine types are the most social of all four temperaments. Often extroverted, they’ re expressive and quite charismatic too. Their people skills and easy-going nature make them great at relationships and bringing people together.
While this type of leader is great for inspiring others, they tend to lack focus and structure, especially when it comes to goal-setting. Their attention tends to be scattered, leaving out any attention to detail.
If you answered mostly B, your dominant temperament is Choleric.
Choleric types are action oriented. Like Sanguine types, they are also extroverted and more concerned with the big picture. They’ re known to be the most dominant type with a strong sense of independence.
While a Choleric type will deliver results on time, they tend to create pressure in a team setting if they are restless enough. This results-focused mindset makes them prioritise the outcome over people and the process.
