Initiatives undertaken in 2024 and to be expanded in 2025 included Manheim ’ s first EVonly auction featuring ex-fleet and OEM vehicles bought exclusively by private buyers , and a LeasePlan auction for dealers , which sold 136 vehicles at a 93 % clearance rate .
Forward thinking with technology :
Manheim has developed and launched new technology-led innovations this year , each designed to address the pressing needs of our growing network of buyers and sellers .
These include an easier online invoicing portal for buyers and the launch of a third-party finance referral program . Another piece in the puzzle is the rollout of EV battery state-of-health tests , with capability at several sites .
Efficiencies through automation :
It is not something that buyers and sellers will see , but the use of automation in key business operations has enhanced the speed at which Manheim processes and lots vehicles to auction , improving the turnaround and results for fleet sellers .
We have implemented systems that automate and accelerate processes such as Takata airbag checks , vehicle assessment and auction allocation . This frees up our team to focus on the human touch with customers .
Data , analytics , and marketing :
Manheim has invested in its data and analytics team , in terms of headcount and integration of AI . With business units in Passenger , Industrial and Salvage auctions , as well as automotive retail software , the company has reams of market intelligence that can add value .
Promotional strategies designed to grow awareness and subsequently our marketplace in 2024 included a push into short form social media videos and livestreams , contributions to trade conferences and government inquiries , and the hiring of in-house PR to engage media .
What comes next ?
We are chasing even greater returns in 2025 , with a volume target reflecting the health of our auction marketplace . Challenges include stabilising and improving average asset values , and continuing to offer avenues for used EVs .
