WORDS BY HINO
There were other things too – like street Coca-Cola Europacific Partners ( CCEP ) Australia has taken another step towards fleet sustainability with the addition of five Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric trucks to its 500-strong fleet .
For Mitchell Kennedy , Head of Vending Operations for Coca-Cola Europacific Partners Australia , the fuel and CO2 savings of Hino Hybrid Electric 300 Series light-duty trucks plus the safety and reliability were an ideal combination .
“ Safety , sustainability and reliability are core components of any new addition to our fleet ,” said Mr Kennedy .
“ Safety of our drivers and other road users are of utmost importance so we appreciate the excellent safety features that are built into the Hino Hybrid Electrics such as Pre-Collision System , Pedestrian Detection and Vehicle Stability Control .
“ At CCEP , we take our responsibility to the environment and community in which we operate seriously .
“ We are working to decarbonise our business toward our target of net zero emissions by 2040 .
“ The potential fuel and CO2 emission reductions feasible through the Hybrid Electric trucks are an exciting prospect ,” he continued .
All Hino 300 Series Hybrid Electric models meet Euro 6 exhaust emissions standards , and realworld trials comparing it against a traditional diesel equivalent revealed a reduction in fuel use and CO2 emissions of up to 20 %.
The level of savings is dependent on the application of the vehicle and how it is driven .
Reliability is another key factor in CCEP ’ s decision making .
“ Like most businesses , any time a truck is off the road is a significant disruption and cost – and with the reliability of Hino trucks , this issue is minimised ,” said Mr Kennedy .
