enable drivers to gain a 500km range in approximately 15 minutes of charging .
bp has a multi-year contract with Australian company Tritium for the supply of EV chargers , including an initial order of almost 1,000 chargers for the UK , Australian and New Zealand markets . bp has already delivered 13,000 EV charge points worldwide and has an ambition to deliver 100,000 charge points globally by 2030 .
We are also working with transport and fleet operators to meet their needs . We are developing tailored charging solutions for fleet depots , which include hardware and software to make back-tobase charging at depots and workplaces more cost effective .
Our investment recognises that to achieve net zero , we must decarbonise the transport sector , from passenger vehicles to heavy haulage trucks . Transport represents 18 % of total emissions in Australia i2 . We ’ re a country renowned for our wide-open roads and busy urban hubs . This won ’ t change , but the way we power and fuel our vehicles will as we transition to low carbon fuels and electrification .
“ Our vision for a lower carbon future is shared by customers , partners , industries and governments alike ,” Frédéric Baudry , president , bp Australia and SVP fuels & low carbon solutions , Asia Pacific said .
“ EVs will play a key role in accelerating the transition to cleaner transport and mobility solutions . We will provide a unique end-to-end customer experience to make it easier for more Australians to switch to an EV .”
The rollout of fast , on-the-go EV charging points at our bp forecourts is only the beginning . We intend to deliver EV charging solutions wherever you might need to recharge . We are now developing our strategy for at-home and destination charging , two areas that our colleagues at bp pulse in the UK and Europe are already successfully delivering . bp is committed to becoming a net zero company by 2050 or sooner , and our delivery of EV charge points is part of the work we are doing to accelerate this transition to a greener future . i
