Trend 2 : Bi-Directional Charging
Back in February , JET Charge has announced that it will be bringing bi-directional chargers to Australian shores . This piece of technology allows EV users to use their vehicles to power their home and its appliances through , charge another EV , or to export energy to the grid .
This gives EV drivers the ability to have electrical power even if they are away from a utility grid .
While very few models have bi-directional charging capabilities , in the future , this could be a standard feature in all EVs . The broad uptake of EVs can potentially have a positive impact on the power grid .
Trend 3 : Electric Trucks are Coming
Apart from passenger EVs , electric trucks are also entering the picture and for good reason . Trucks make up 20 percent of Australia ’ s transport sector which makes it one of the best places to boost the transition to electric vehicles .
Not only are electric trucks better for the environment in terms of emissions but they are also easier to maintain , they are quieter , they are more efficient , and have overall better performance on the road than their ICE counterparts .
The Australian Trucking Association even advocates for electrifying trucks to reduce health impacts and give the industry huge cost savings .
More manufacturers are introducing more electric trucks into the market including Fuso , Volvo , and SEA Electric .
