Fuso lauches safer all-electric ecanter truck
WORDS BY FUSO
Fuso recently launched the first Original Equipment Manufacturer all-electric truck in Australia .
The eCanter , which was displayed at AFMA ’ s Australasian Fleet Management Conference & Exhibition earlier this year produces zero exhaust pipe emissions and operates almost silently , providing companies with a great way to reduce their overall emissions .
Australia Post was the first local company to place an order for the eCanter , selecting 20 of the pioneering electric trucks .
Unlike other electric trucks available in Australia , the eCanter has a full suite of active safety features including Advanced Emergency Braking System ( AEBS ), Electronic Stability Program ( ESP ) and Lane Departure Warning System ( LDWS ).
Fuso was not about to skimp on safety given that a truck doubles as a workplace for drivers and passengers .
The eCanter ’ s AEBS system also helps protect other road uses . It can automatically brake the truck if it senses it is about hit a vehicle in front and begin braking for moving pedestrians as well , which is especially important in the high density urban areas electric trucks will do most of their work . AEBS and LDWS feature on light , medium and heavy duty Fuso trucks , as well as the Rosa bus .
Fuso is currently working with a range of other leading companies who are excited about adding an all-electric truck to their fleets that is provided by a major manufacturer with a long history and service network that spans the country .
The eCanter was developed using the massive research and development power of Daimler Trucks who came up with a durable tried and tested design with features such as thermally controlled battery packs not available on competitor products . It has been the subject of a rigorous testing regime around the world , including a six-month Australian test running with a maximum load , while global customers have covered more than three million kilometres of real world driving .
The eCanter has a range of more than 100km
