• The side impact test configurations have
changed by increasing the test speed from
50km/h to 60km/h and the test trolley mass
increased from 1300kg to 1400kg.
• Far-side impact tests have been introduced
for the first time. These tests are a particularly
challenging test for smaller vehicles to score
highly in and feature 2 x WorldSID dummies and
75 degree sled tests.
• AEB performance testing has been expanded
to assess an even higher number of scenarios
including AEB backover and AEB junction
(intersection).
• Automatic emergency steering assessment has
been introduced to assess a vehicle’s ability to
assist the driver in safely steering into a clear
adjacent lane if AEB cannot provide sufficient
avoidance.
• Driver monitoring forms part of new
assessments - monitoring driver attentiveness
/ fatigue by using cameras (facial recognition)
and/or driver vehicle inputs (acceleration,
steering, braking).
