of 5-star ANCAP safety rated vehicles
available across segments and price-
points.”

Key changes to ANCAP testing
protocols for 2020
• The number of physical crash tests increases
from five to eight and now includes the frontal
offset, full width frontal, side impact, oblique
pole, pedestrian, whiplash and two far-side
impact tests.
• The frontal offset test configurations have
changed from an Offset Deformable Barrier to
a Mobile Progressive Deformable Barrier - the
severity of the crash has increased with the
introduction of a moving deformable barrier
trolley as opposed to a static barrier. Vehicle
compatibility is also assessed – penalising
models with overly aggressive front structures
that increase the risk of injury to occupants of
the oncoming vehicle.
