If it’ s one thing Pensacola has no shortage of, it’ s musicians. From experimental bedroom musicians to the atmospheric and harrowing local band Pioneers O’ Pioneers, music can be found all over the place.
Local hip-hop, however, has barely gotten a nod but it is not without its staples. Artist Big Lo is a veteran of local hip-hop and has been organizing showcases for years. Now, out of Pensacola’ s humble locale, a fresh, new voice has recently emerged and has been heard and well-received in places as far as Washington D. C. and Los Angeles.
We at FIVE caught up with this young, Pensacola-based artist and his collaborator to talk about the finer points of music making, life experiences and music’ s personal and universal impact.
