Community
• Member of Atherton Garden’s Youth and Children
Networking Group.
• Chenai from Brotherhood of St Laurence’s EMC
and Elissa Sacks from New Hope Foundation have
been attending Mondays for Youth Voices.
• Carol Cumming from Artful Dodgers worked with
the Youth Voices group for their film project.
Projects
• Arts Workshop Project 2013–2015: Clubhouse
is partnering with Yarra Youth Services and
Visionary Images. We have worked with Chris
Parkinson (YYS) and Maria Fillipow (Visionary
Images Creative Director) to submit a proposal for
funding. These arts based workshops are focussed
on Yarra middle-years young people during
holiday periods.
• Dion Stojsavljevic’s fundraising event: We are
working on a fundraising project with Intel
mentor, Dion, whereby the Clubhouse members
design, plan and organise an event for Dion’s
Prestige Car Club. All of the proceeds would go to
the Clubhouse.
• Hope – Refugee Week Video Project: The project
had a fantastic result at the film festival in June.
Clubhouse members were excited to receive second
and third place for their work, receiving vouchers
worth $700.
• Illumination – Gertrude Street Projection Festival
Project: This festival saw an entry from the
Clubhouse in July and the group involved attended
the opening night celebrations. Mentors and
members had a lot of fun creating stop motion
animations and abstract photography for their
piece.
• Young Animators Collective – Frame By Frame.
An Animated Shorts Studio: Wednesdays have
been dedicated to animation with mentors
working in small groups. Members built valuable
skills in stop-motion animation as they explored
the process of filmmaking and iStopMotion
software.
• Digital Photography: Digital photography, photo
manipulation and Photoshop layering skills have
continued throughout the term.
• Music – Guitar: One on one guitar chord lessons
with a mentor.
• Printmaking: Illustrated designs for print making
has been popular with the middle years members.
• Mural: Collaborative art project for interior wall
and Clubhouse doors working with mentors
throughout Term 3.
• Patterns: Textile pattern design using Photoshop
is a project which began in Term 2 and continued
through into Term 3. The process will be
completed by members designing their own
individual T-shirt to be printed externally.
• 3D printing and design: This aims at the members
designing a 3D project using new software which
will be printed by 3D printers.
Technology
Thanks to Jo Staunton we have purchased a new
iMac and Intel has donated four laptops and four
desktop computers. The animation projects have
been exploring the iStopMotion software, lightbox
tables, and digital SLR cameras and tripods, and
the green screen and portrait lighting kit used for
photography and video production. We use online
maths and science games and we are exploring 3D
printing and design, Photoshop and Premier Pro.
