The first generation of the console includes the first normal and handheld game consoles released. The most famous examples are Magnavox Odyssey, Atari Pong Home Version, Nintendo Color TV-Game and Coleco Telstar.
First Generation (1972 - 1983)
The most famous games, those which marked more players, are Submarine(Odyssey), Table Tennis(Odyssey), Pong(Atari), etc.
If you played these games or know them you can see that the consoles technology was no big deal or less than that. But it was enough to make the players get surprised by the image quality and have a lot of fun.
The simplicity of these games can be one of the factors that made them so successful. A simple challenge that takes a long time to beat, pass a laid back image that invites the player to play without commitment, and when he realizes, he is loving the game and spends most part of the time playing it.
This generation was crucial to whole game development story, its importance has to be highlighted, it was here when everything was introduced, so the feedback was unsure, despite the fact that the Atari Pong arcades had already been consolidated. It explains why in this specific generation there are so many Pong based games and little diversity. But from now, with the positive return from the players, the second generation come with a visible playable evolution.
