CHESTER - In the wake of the cold front that moved through the Lake Almanor Basin in late October dropping snows on surrounding peaks , the trout action at the lake has improved for boaters , bank anglers and float tubers .

AMADOR LAKE
Trout Season Begins
IONE – The first experimental trout plant of around 100 pounds of rainbows from the Lake Amador fish hatchery went into the lake on October 20 , starting the trout season at the popular Mother Lode reservoir located near Ione .
Then on Monday , October 24 , the lake management stocked another 500 pounds of trout .
“ The surface water temperature is 66 degrees now and Mt . Lassen will be stocking 1200 pounds of trout weekly ,” said Elizabeth Lockhart of the Lake Amador Resort . “ We will also be planting the trout from our hatchery .”
The fishing pressure for trout has been very light so far . “ Some people caught trout off our docks yesterday , but today there ’ s just one boat out on the lake ,” said Lockhart .
The Tackle Box Café reopened opened on October 27 .
“ Black bass fishing is still good for angler using top water lures such as Zara Spooks and Zara Puppies ,”
