PORTOLA – If you want to catch
rainbows in the heat at Lake Davis, your
top prospect is to troll at 25 feet deep.
“Hoss, a local angler, and his friend went
fishing for a couple of hours on the lake
this morning,” stated Jeanne Graham of
the J&J Grizzly Store and Campground.
“They landed a total of five trout in the 15
to 16 inch range. The fish hit red dot frog
Needlefish.”
Hoss noted that the surface water
temperature was 71 to 72 degrees at 6 am
when they got on the lake.
Brown bullhead catfish action continues
to be productive in the Cat Cove, Eagle
Point and Mallard Cove areas, according
to Graham. Cats in the 1 to 2 lb. range are
hitting nightcrawlers and catfish PowerBait.
Bass fishing continues to get only a “fair”
rating from Graham. Boaters are catching
and releasing largemouths on a variety of
lures from the Lightning Tree to Mosquito
Slough.”
