FRESHWATER REPORTS:
Bogue is anxious to fish.
“I’ve been seeing some good size fish
being caught off the coast and it seems
like the numbers are good. I’m thinking
that may translate to great river fishing.
If you want to fish during the opening
several days of the season, give me a
call as spots are starting to fill,” Bogue
concluded.
In terms of fly fishing on the Sacramento
the Fly Shop reports that anglers are
seeing more and more PMDs and caddis
coming off with each day, there are a log
of yellow Sallies as well. Good flies are
Bird’s Nests, Cinnamon Poopahs and #16
X-Mays in brown and black. The weather
will continue to improve over the next few
weeks along with the fly fishing.

IONE– Trollers are picking up mixed
catches of rainbow trout and kokanee
salmon.
On the latest trip by Robbie Dunham
of Koke Machine Guide Service, his two
clients landed 5 rainbows to 3 pounds
and 5 kokanee to 2.1 pounds while
trolling an array of lures at the mouth of
the Mokelumne River near the dam. “The
biggest kokanee, a big female with some
eggs, measured a little over 18 inches ,”
he noted.
“Once the sun hit the water, it was game
on, and I didn’t get to sit down for the next
45 minutes, as both the trout and kokanee
were biting,” he explained.
Weekly trout plants continue at Lake
Pardee, with latest plant of 1,000 pounds
of rainbows by Calaveras Trout Farm
bringing the total to 27,000 pounds for the
season so far.
Bank anglers interested in hooking the
rainbows should toss out PowerBait,
nightcrawlers and Kastmasters in the
deeper water off the points of the main
recreation area. Shore fishing pressure
has been light.
Jack and Ben Hartman teamed with their dad Kyle and guide Joe Askait on June 6 and
rounded up full limits of New Melones kokanee.
