Danielle Motley-Lewis , Lowe Consulting Group ’ s Workforce Development Program Manager , has spent two decades working to improve the quality of life for marginalized youth and families , especially those impacted by mass incarceration and racial inequity . Growing up in the Detroit area as the youngest of ten siblings , she witnessed the majority of her male relatives cycle in and out of the criminal justice system and personally understood the impact of incarceration on the whole family .
Before working with Lowe Consulting Group , Danielle held positions in non-profit and local government that focused on workforce and leadership development for high school and college students from underserved communities . “ I have a passion for finding and connecting people with the coaching , guidance , physical and mental health resources , and other support needed to help them navigate life ,” notes Danielle . She is most proud of her work with the Michigan State Appellate Defender Office , where she co-developed a holistic prisoner re-entry program for the state ’ s juvenile lifers to re-enter society after being resentenced and ultimately paroled . The re-entry program aimed to assist parolees with family reunification , help them find and support keeping a job , and connect them to various other resources , including mental health services . Danielle ’ s lived experience fueled her passion to help those re-entering to focus on the whole person .

While the construction industry has not traditionally been welcoming to people of diverse backgrounds , decades of advocacy have led to changes in policies and enforcement which , combined with a severe shortage of workers that threatens to disrupt workflow , have been slowly bringing about positive change . To that end , Danielle ’ s employer , Oakland-based Lowe Consulting Group , Inc . ( LCG ), along with consulting firm Davillier-Sloan , Inc . ( DSI ), are coleading a team providing outreach and support for Alameda County ’ s Project Stabilization / Community Benefits Agreement ( PS / CBA ). First adopted in 2013 , the Countywide PS / CBA created training and hiring goals designed to provide county residents , particularly those from disadvantaged communities , with greater pre-apprenticeship , apprenticeship and work opportunities for County-owned
