The organic farming methods are not germinated from the failure of
the green revolution but it is spread after the green revolution. Even
before that at the time of prevalence of traditional farming in India the
western world was behind the search of alternative farming methods.
Twentith century witnessed huge development in the field of
agriculture . Mental’s law of genetics has given huge contribution to
the field of agriculture which helped in the development of new
breeding techniques. Industrial revolution, invention of tractors and
manufacturing of the nitrogen based fertilizers has given a new phase
to the agriculture. Later the voices against these developments has
lead to different alternative farming methods. We are going to analyse
different alternative agriculture movements in the light of science.
Biodynamic agriculture
It is a form of alternative agriculture very similar to organic farming,
but which includes various esoteric concepts drawn from the ideas
of Rudolf Steiner (1861–1925). Initially developed in the 1920s, it was
the first of the organic agriculture movements. It treats soil fertility,
plant growth, and livestock care as ecology inter related tasks
emphasizing spiritual and mystical perspectives. While biodynamics
parallels organic farming in many ways especially with regard to
cultural and biological farming practices it is set apart from other
organic agriculture systems
