This involved a number of management consultant assignments helping companies deal with specific problems ranging from simple systems analysis to managing the cash flow in practically insolvent organisations. Some of these were as attached to management consulting arm of Prior Webb and Nichols Chartered Accountants. The four major assignments are: 1. Unilock Ltd. ( Part of the Yule Catto Plc Group) St Leonards on Sea, East Sussex. Turnover £20m. Manufacturing and Sales of office partitioning. Produced flow charts of current factory procedure and documented system. Reported on recommended improvements. Advised on the implementation of a new payroll system. Advised on cash flow and introduced spreadsheets for monitoring performance. Supported finance director in production of budgets and assisted in procedures for timely production of management accounts. 2. West Kent College. Brook St, Tonbridge. Assisted with the development of accounting courses, including the introduction of CIMA. Lectured in Business Studies, Law and Accounting and Communications. 3. RPL Telecommunications Ltd Greenford. Middx. Turnover £16m. Sales of Telephone systems with Maintenance Contracts. This company was in financial difficulties. Managed to keep it running long enough to negotiate a trade sale. Produced cash flow forecasts and profit forecasts for the due diligence audit. Assisted in the re-organisation of the company and closure of two sites. Dealt with bank, major creditors, Inland Revenue and auditors. Worked with existing employees to improve working capital management. 4. Broadcasting Support Services (BBC Charity). London W3. Provides Television support via free or low cost document distribution for viewers. Telephone help lines. Produced Systems analysis to improve accounting function. Produced detailed cost forecasts. Advised on producing tenders to EEC for grants on a number of projects particularly community health. Advised on cost/revenue analysis for the Children in Need contract. KPM UK Taxis Plc. London E1. Jan 91-Jul 93. Group Accountant reporting to Managing Director. Turnover 13m. Company sold new black taxis to London cabbies, body shop, repair garage, knowledge school . Responsible for accounting functions of group companies. Established nominal ledger accounting procedures and monthly management accounts. Provided detailed analysis of specific business areas. Produced group accounts for audit. Investigated and reported on new Kerridge computer system and procedures.
