freshman year, but feels like he has the advantage in throwing ability over the other two guys.
Javon Johnson moves up from JV, where Worrell felt he did a phenomenal job. Finally, Brogan Sims moved in from Millsap and has thrown himself into the mix.
All three have the opportunity to earn the starting job during Mineral Wells’ two scrimmage games.
“ We’ re gonna rock’ n’ roll with
PLAYERS TO WATCH: Offensive line, WR / DB Jaidun Fisher and DE / TE Trent Yowell Jr.

Defense
Much like the offensive side, Worrell believes that the line will be what the Rams hang their hat on defensively, especially early in the season.
As a member of the line, Trent Yowell Jr. said that the Ram defense was already a strong suit; however, the new coaches who bring a new defensive scheme“ mean business.”
With 79 years of coaching experience between them, recent hires Steve and Keith Wood present a new layer defensively.
Stints with Calhoun, Dobie, Boswell and most notably, Aledo, Steve contributed to 11 state championships in his 42 years of coaching.
Keith, who also coached at Aledo during his 37 years of coaching, worked alongside Worrell at Brock before reuniting at Mineral Wells.
“ I’ m learning from them,” said Worrell about the duo.
The expected scheme for the Rams is a 4-man front, but they plan to mix it up depending on what offenses show.
The change opens spots in the secondary and linebacker positions this season.
Jaidun Fisher hopes to make a major impact at defensive back, as he’ s been waiting for this moment.
“ I’ m ready to come out guns blazing,” said Fisher.
Hicks, who played linebacker in
2024, furthered Fisher’ s point.“ I wanna hit people.” With the new hires, Worrell senses more belief from the Rams and expects a big step forward for 2025.
