A reason the competition continues between the two passers is the injuries to receivers during spring ball. Jones and the staff couldn’ t get the full look at either guy under center without the wideouts being at full strength.
Jones plans to let both quarterbacks play early on in the season and move Tubbs back to receiver, much like what he did in 2024, in case of injuries to the position.
A name to look out for is Colby Thompson, as Jones mentioned the junior tight end had a great offseason.
“ He’ s gonna push for a lot of playing time because he has done the work,” said the head coach.“ The quarterbacks have taken notice and recognized him as a threat to throw the ball to.”
DEFENSE
As the only returning linebacker, senior Chase Wilburn isn’ t worried about the turnaround at his position because of his confidence in an entire defensive line that brings everyone back.
