The staff and musicians of the
Jacksonville Symphony are in the
business of making sweet melodies, but a
recent donation from Beaches’ residents
was likely music to their ears. In May,
BRASS, Beaches Residents Actively
Supporting the Symphony, presented the
Jacksonville Symphony with $110,000—
the largest donation the organization has
ever made.
On the first night of the “Courtney
Lewis Returns” concerts, BRASS
hosted a pre-concert reception for its
Concertmaster Society and Leadership
Circle members. There was obviously
much to celebrate: both the return of the
symphony’s new music director and the
landmark gift from BRASS.
Michael Imbriani, president of
BRASS (Beaches Residents Actively
Supporting the Symphony) presented
Robert Massey, president and CEO of
the Jacksonville Symphony Association,
with a check in the amount of $110,000
on the Jacoby Symphony Hall stage prior
to the performance on Thursday, May
14th at the Times-Union Center for the
Performing Arts.
Speaking to the audience, Imbriani
said, “I often sum up the BRASS’s mission
in two words – friends and funds: making
