who donated their time, labor and materials to the project. The new facility sits on nine acres of Nocatee real estate that was donated by Roger O’Stein, the PARC Group and the Davis Family. The 17,000 square foot headquarters features a full kitchen, dining hall, lounges, an exercise room, a library and staff offices. Every effort was made to provide a warm, inviting environment that serves as the veterans’ home away from home while they go through the program. The facility currently has 28 climate-controlled kennel stalls for the dogs and five enclosed dog parks for training exercises. Fundraising to add additional kennels is currently underway. The grounds also include an in-ground, bone-shaped pool with a fire hydrant-shaped fountain for the K9s to play and cool off in. Ninety five percent of the doges used in the program are either rescue or shelter dogs. In addition to the K9s For Warriors staff, volunteers have been instrumental in the success of the program, Duval has stated time and time again. More than 500 volunteers donate their time to the organization, providing services such as dog socialization, assistance with special events and preparing home cooked meals for the warriors during their stay as part of the “Kasseroles for K9s” programs.
