450TH LANDING DAY THANKSGIVING FEAST AND
CELEBRATION
Re-enactors will recreate Menendez’ landing at
the Fountain of Youth Park. The event takes place
from 10:30 a.m.-2 p.m. Admission is $15 for adults,
$14 for seniors and $9 for children. Children ages
five and under are free. Feast tickets are sold

CHEROKEE NATIVE AMERICAN INTERPRETIVE
HISTORY DEMONSTRATIONS
Cherokee native historians will be conducting
lectures and demonstrations in The Fountain
of Youth Park’s living history village of Seloy.
Admission is $15 for adults, $14 for seniors and
$9 for children. Children ages five and under are

FIESTA DE AVILES & RUNNING OF THE BULLS
A youth race running of the “bulls” race will take
place 3 p.m.; the adult race starts at 3:30 p.m. at
the Aviles Street Festival. A contest to name a live
Andulusian Bull will also take place from 10:30
a.m.-3:30 p.m. The drawing will take place at 4
p.m. and the winner will receive $100.
PAELLA FOR THE WORLD FESTIVAL
A free Paella festival and cookout will take place
from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on the front lawn of the
Lightner Museum, 75 King St. in St. Augustine.
ANCIENT CITY COWS OF LA FLORIDA
Live Andalusian cattle, descendants of Pedro
Menéndez de Avilés’s original stock, will be
showcased at the Colonial Quarter from 10 a.m.-6
p.m.
VILANO BEACH 450TH HAPPY BIRTHDAY
CELEBRATION & SUNSET CELEBRATION
Vilano Beach is celebrating the 450th
commemoration with a birthday celebration from
2-4 p.m. at the Vilano Beach Pier that will include
a walking tour and special events. The Sunset
Celebration will take place afterwards, beginning
at 4 p.m. with vendors, music and entertainment.
The city’s fireworks can be viewed from the pier.

The City of St. Augustine has organized a fireworks
show over the Matanzas River at 11 p.m.
SEPT. 6 - EMMA CONCERT ASSOCIATION
PRESENTS FIESTA 450!
A six-hour all-Spanish-themed extravaganza will
take place at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre from
3-9 p.m. Gates open at 3 p.m.; the event starts at 4
p.m. Tickets range in price from $19-$39 for general
admission; VIP ticket packages are available for
$100. The St. Augustine Amphitheatre is located at

SEPT. 7 - CAKE CUTTING, PROCLAMATION
READING & MUSIC IN THE PLAZA
The events take place on the Gazebo stage at Plaza
la Consitución. Driftwoods perform from noon-2
p.m. The official birthday proclamation will be read
and the birthday cake cut from 2-3 p.m., followed
by a performance by Mid-Life Crisis from 3-5 p.m.
SEPT. 8 - COUNTDOWN CLOCK CEREMONY
The Countdown Clock Ceremony signaling the
450th anniversary will take place at 8 a.m. at the
Visitor Information Center, 10 W. Castillo Drive in St.
Augustine.
MENÉDEZ LANDING REENACTMENT
At 9 a.m., the annual, historical re-enactment of
Menéndez’ landing and anniversary commemoration
will be presented by Florida Living History, Inc.’s
volunteers at the traditional site of Menéndez’
landing – Mission Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Ave.
in St. Augustine. Admission to this heritage event
is free of charge and open to the public. For more

PROCESSION TO THE CATHEDRAL BASILICA OF
ST. AUGUSTINE
A procession comprised of dignitaries, re-enactors
and spectators will make their way from the Mission
Nombre de Dios, 27 Ocean Ave. in St. Augustine
to The Cathedral Basilica, 38 Cathedral Place in
St. Augustine for the commemorative mass. The
procession begins at 10 a.m.
