Stay tuned here for details; the Fontana city council votes on this issue in February. • Union leadership joined Assistant Chief Jeff Birchfield on tours of the division, covering topics such as future funding, station additions in Fontana and beginning implementation of Auto-Pulse devices in both Upland and Fontana. • Division 1 members were among the many who showed up in force to represent labor’s interests at the crucial San Bernardino County Board of Supervisor’s meeting in September. As Division 1 Vice President John Marini says, “Our members showed up when the president asked. Showing numbers is important at times, and this was one of them.” • In August, the Fontana Boxing club hosted a well-attended multi-fight card at Fontana’s Jesse Hernandez center. Local 935 has been proud of its ongoing support of this group, and this night was a big step toward their continued success. • Local 935 chefs claimed second prize in the chicken category at the Fontana Grill & Chill barbecue competition on September 14, taking on labor groups from Fontana Police, San Bernardino County Sheriff, Teamsters and steel workers.
