Before the feature, we screened
Clapperboard short WHAT SIDE ARE
YOU ON? which focuses on hate
crime and was made in partnership
with students that we worked with
in the past, from the Academy
of St Francis of Assisi. Arthur Ellison
worked on the film’s script together
with young film-makers from The
Academy of St Francis of Assisi.
When the films were premiered,
drama student Kieron Bimpson won
a Clapperboard Award for Best
Supporting Actor.
Kieron participated in a Question
and Answer discussion with a lively
audience of more than 100 guests
that included Clapperboard’s
Board, Sponsors, Funders and
Partners including Hollyoaks actor
Jacqueline Boatswain who said that
she really enjoyed both films and
had a great evening.
Kieron talked about his journey
from a young drama student to
fulfilling his dream as an actor with
parts in BBC’s Justice, ITV’s Vera
and Gary Oldman’s new feature
film Hunter Killer due for release this
year. He said….“it’s fantastic that
Clapperboard can help give young
people like me opportunities to work
in the film and TV industry. Maureen
Sinclair and Colin Farrell have
always been there to encourage
and guide me along with my drama
teacher at the Academy.
Teacher Nicola Ousey said.
“Arthur was just brilliant to work
with during the production of our
short film with Clapperboard. He
helped us all understand dialogue
and made the whole script writing
process fun”.
The special event was hosted by
Clapperboard Director Maureen
Sinclair with Joan Burnett from
Liverpool Pride. Nik Powell award
winning Producer (Company of
Wolves, Mona Lisa, Fever Pitch,
Twenty Four Seven) and Head of
the National Film School Chaired
the Q and A. Nik said “I am
delighted to be involved in a small
way with Claperboard, a project
which clearly enables people’s lives
in a big way”.
Afterwards all guests celebrated
at a post reception at Frederiks

complimentary drinks and all had
the opportunity to network with
industry professionals. The evening
was well received and a fun night
was had by all.
