About Our Organization

The Town of Jupiter operates under the council-manager form of government . This system of local government combines the strong leadership of elected officials with the strong managerial experience of an appointed municipal government manager .

Beginning from Excellence

The Mayor and Council Members are elected to represent the citizens of the community and to develop policy that is responsive to community needs and wants . The Town Council – a board of five elected officials – also approves budgetary and financial activities , and sets the Town ’ s strategic direction and vision . Councilors are elected at-large by residents and serve a three-year term . Local elections are held in March .
Working with the Town Council and acting as the Town ’ s Chief Executive Officer , the Town Manager directs and oversees the Town ’ s operations , including overseeing the Town ’ s departments , as well as large capital projects . The Town ’ s current Town Manager , Frank Kitzerow , has a long and distinguished career in law enforcement and public safety , including 13 years as Jupiter ’ s Chief of Police .
