Cooperation and Development—Celebration of the 20th Anniversary
of the Government Loan Cooperation between the People’s Republic of China and the State of Israel
Congratulatory Messageby the Israeli Ambassador
to China, Mr. Matan Vilnai in honor of the 20th
Anniversary of the Financial Protocol
The connection between China and the Jewish people dates back a thousand years to the time when Jewish
merchants from central Asia arrived in China through the Silk Road. Despite a difference in size, the Jewish
and Chinese people share many similarities and can be of great help to each other. The Financial Protocol is
an example for that.
China and Israel’s economic relations have been rapidly growing over the years and the 20th anniversary of
the financial Protocol marks an important milestone in the financial cooperation between the two countries.
During my service, China has become one of Israel's biggest export markets. This is one of the reasons
that the Ministry of Finance decided to appoint their first representative in China-Minister for Finance and
Economic Affairs in addition to two commercial attaché’s representing the Ministry of Economy, in order to
enhance and promote Chinese-Israeli economic and financial cooperation.
The Financial Protocol is a wonderful tool that allows for the growth of Israeli exports to China and helps
China upgrade its facilities using advanced Israeli technologies.
I am certain that through the financial protocol we will continue to implement successful projects, benefiting
both Israel and China.
Mr. Matan Vilnai
Ambassador, Embassy of Israel to China
