Strategic Recommendations 8.1 Key Takeaways 1. The workforce within the PSA sector is expected to experience a positive growth and there is a high demand for skilled jobs, especially within the professional job category. However, the skills gap and lack of specialised talents within the existing talent pool may pose barriers to fulfilling the increasing demand for skilled workforce within the sector. 2. Despite the skills gaps within the talent pool, workforce development as well as collaboration between employers and educational institution are still low. In order to address the current and future workforce needs, the education curriculum and industry needs should to be better aligned, while training and upskilling initiatives need to be actively pursued. 3. Technological disruption is taking place within the PSA industry and is expected to redefine workplaces and create new opportunities. Hence, companies need to embrace the latest technologies and leverage on the key emerging trends to remain competitive in the face of innovation and advancement. Meanwhile, the workforce should be adequately trained to upgrade their skillsets or retrained to take on new jobs. 4. Although establishments are generally aware of technological disruption, most of them are not aware of the ability to automate their business processes. Besides that, the adoption of automation within the PSA sector is also low. 5. Certain sector such as the legal sector has a higher representation of semi-skilled workers, especially clerical support workers in order to carry out routine tasks. Therefore, it is imperative to reduce manpower dependency on routine tasks through technological adoption in order to increase productivity. Environmental Scan – Professional Services Activities 100
