National Employment Returns (NER) 2018 Future Positions to be Created One observation that emerged was the expected positive labour demand outlook between 2018-2019. Hiring activity will gradually pick up with one third of the establishments (33%) planning to increase their headcounts for the next 4 years. Labour demand refers to the total number of jobs in the market, which includes the occupied jobs and vacancies available in the market. According to Figure 4.14, the future positions to be created for 2018 and 2019 sums up to a total of 812,069 new positions, which translates to about 8% of new labour requirements to the overall job market. The Manufacturing sector is expected to create the highest number of new jobs in 2018 and 2019. In terms of job growth, Agriculture, Forestry & Fishing sector would have a higher job growth rate from 2017 to 2018, whereas Accommodation & Food Service sector would have a higher job growth rate from 2018 to 2019, at 7% respectively. Figure 4.14 Number of New Jobs to be created by 2018-2019 by MSIC Based on the results shown in Figure 4.15, the job growth rate for Service & Sales Workers and Skilled Agricultural, Forestry, Livestock & Fishery Workers categories is the highest at 7% respectively for 2017-2018. The hiring spree is also extended to year 2018-2019 for the Skilled Agricultural, Forestry, Livestock & Fishery Workers category whereby the estimated job growth rate is at 8%.
