As the jobs become more complex, the expectations related to skill sets is much higher as shown in
Figure 3.5. For instances, most of the establishments required their managers to be well-rounded in all
the skills from technical to soft skills. This pattern is also observed in the Clerical Support Worker,
Professionals and Service & Sales Workers job categories.
When asked about the required skills of Malaysian employees, establishments noted that the most
important attribute was “teamwork”, where it was the top-rated skills for most of the job categories.
For the lower job categories, the demand for skills was much less, however most of the establishments
quoted that “teamwork” was the most important skillset.
