Analysis by Sector
Zooming into the 18 MSIC sectors (refer to Figure 2.24), Malaysian full-time employees from the
Information & Communication sector received the highest monthly cash allowance at RM666. This is
followed by Administrative & Support Services and Transportation & Storage sectors where the
employees received about RM644 and RM536 monthly cash allowance respectively. The average
median cash allowance received by Malaysian full-time employees across all sectors were in the range
of RM135 to RM666 per month. Out of the 18 sectors, 7 sectors were paying cash allowance lower than
the average cash allowance offered by other sectors.

Analysis by Occupational Structure
As shown in Figure 2.25, Malaysian employees in all job categories, except for Managers, received an
average median cash allowance of RM175 to RM320 per month. The median cash allowance for
Managers was RM860. As for Foreign full-time employees, all job categories except for high-skilled
categories received an average median cash allowance in the range of RM126 to RM300. The median
cash allowance for Managers was the highest at RM2,500, followed by Professionals and Technicians
& Associate Professionals at RM1,400 and RM1,353 respectively.
