Fixed Pay – Basic Salaries
This section provides an overview of the monthly basic salary across different demographic factors.
The information presented in this section can provide an indication on the difference in salary levels
when compared to the different occupation categories, sectors, geography, amongst others. Figure 2.2
provides a snapshot of the fixed pay pattern in NER 2018.

Overall Observations
Analysis by Geography
In NER 2018, the median monthly basic salary was RM3,200. Figure 2.3 shows the median basic salary
differences by geography. Employers from Peninsular Malaysia on average paid 50% more than the
employers from East Malaysia respectively.
