Analysis by Establishment Size
A further breakdown of establishment representation within the sectors by the establishment size reveals
that a higher proportion of Large establishments is observed within the Agricultural, Forestry & Fishing,
Electricity, Gas, Stream & Air Conditioning Supply, and Mining & Quarrying sectors. On the other
hand, a higher proportion of Small establishments is observed within the Other Service, Human Health
& Social Work, Wholesale & Retail Trade; Repair of Motor Vehicles & Motorcycles and
Accommodation & Food Service sectors (refer to Figure 1.7).

Other Observations
NER 2018 also went a step further to understand the profile of the establishments in terms of their
shareholding and ownership as well as years of history.
Analysis by Organisation Type
For type of organisation, Figure 1.8 shows that 57.4% are independent entities, while 27.8% are
headquarters, followed by branch/operations offices (12.7%) and franchise (2.1%).
