ECO FASHION | SASS BROWN
ECO CHIC | MATILDA LEE
Originally front London , Sass brown was an intern at the School Of Art and Design at The Institute of Technology, New York. She is a designer with her own collection in the uk and Canada. Brown is mostly devoted to the ethical side of fashion in all its expertise. She will look into the heritage craft to recycle, reuse and new business models. For me this book was helpful in the sense it allowed me to truly understand how fashion that is sustainable doesn't just means this. There are many different steps you can take to be sustainable therefore this will help me deciding which aspect of ethical fashion I want to explore. Whether that be charity work or the brands I use.
.
To me eco chic was very interesting, it was alarming the surprises that this book honed. Matilda Lee used this to highlight shoppers on how to buy ethically. In a way it was a opening for shopaholics to almost tell the difference between brands who are using pr stunts to falsely claim to be "sustainable" however really are the same as any other large cooperation's. Monsoon was one of these which came at quite a shock as you would think of them as a legitimate brand. For me I have become aware about the difference between a small act of sustainability to being completely ethical so now I will ensure when searching for brands/stock that I am choosing the RIGHT designers - always read the small print.
