The treatment and control were switched due to active nature of the initial control making it more appropriate to treat that site .

Site monitoring

Onsite vegetation , runoff and water quality data is collected by CSIRO , commencing in 2019 .
Pre-treatment data was collected at this site on both the control and treatment sites for 3 wet seasons ( 2016 / 17 , 2017 / 28 , 2018 / 19 ), and late in 2019 , a series of hillslope interventions were implemented on the Treatment site ( Figure 27 ). The location of the water quality monitoring sites , land condition and terrain analysis surveys are shown in Figure 27 . Site images are also provided in Figure 28 .
As with many other locations in the region , this site has had quite extreme rainfall patterns with 2017-18 and 2019-20 having relatively low rainfall totals of < 500 mm while in 2018-19 the site received ~ 1,400 mm of rain . This variability has tested the site instrumentation resulting in some gaps in the dataset , particularly in 2017-18 when there was repeated burial ( and re-excavation ) of the monitoring sensors for parts of the wet season and as such , no loads data were calculated for 2017-18 at either the control or treatment site .
Figure 27 . Location of Strathbogie site ( left ) and the Control and Treatment gullies . The location of the treatment structures and monitoring equipment / locations are shown .
Table 13 summarises the results for the Strathbogie site for 2018-19 , 2019-20 and 2020-21 .
