Literature and relevant industry contacts were consulted , and the following list of water quality data was compiled for the BBB region . At the catchment scale , data consist of 5 sites , from 3 providers , and for the sub-catchment scale , 9 sites from 1 provider .
Table 7 : List of water quality data for BBB region . Note Burdekin Falls Dam and Burdekin EOV included for whole of catchment budget calculations .

Three main methods were developed for interpretation , providing better data and system knowledge for model comparison and improvement .
Firstly , the catchment was delineated into a nested hierarchal framework based on key sites , considering discharge , stream gauging and water quality monitoring . This allows loads to be inferred to some areas that are not monitored using simple budget type calculations . These sites were then summarised in terms of simple hydrology metrics
Secondly average annual loads were constructed for each site , where appropriate , using the calculation as follows ,
Sites with loads Average Annual Load = Average Annual Mean Concentration * the long term discharge ( 1986-2014 ). Sites without loads Average Annual Load = Average Concentration of Event Samples * the long term discharge ( 1986-2014 ). This method was validated for accuracy against other long term water quality sites .
Finally at the key sites , events were defined , and key sources of constituents where identified . This was in turn completed for all GBRCLMP sites across the GBR allowing further characterisation of the BBB region .
