Modelling Improvements Water quality data development and analysis

Prior to the Phase 3 of the P2R Modelling Cycle ( refer to Table 6 ), any BBB monitored sub-basin load estimates were used in model validation only , not for model calibration . Model validation was limited to a small number of sites monitored as part of the State Government GBR Catchment Loads Monitoring Program ( GBRCLMP ). Although a useful first cut , these were limited in samples and years of coverage , therefore adding considerable uncertainty given the range of discharge conditions the catchment encounters . In addition , other downstream and tributary water quality data was located however as yet undeveloped techniques were required to extract useful information about BBB Loads . Mainly these data were limited in samples , ungauged or where well downstream of source . Importantly , the period after the Phase 3 model rebuilds coincided with the initiation of the LDC project and provided an opportune moment to analyse the increasing GBRCLMP dataset and assimilated LDC community WQ monitoring ( tributaryscale ), and associated NESP sediment tracing . This would thereby , likely improve the catchment modelling and the conceptual understanding of water quality loads and process in the BBB .
