“If a vehicle is worth purchasing, it’s worth protecting!” IGL also produces a product that is an industrial grade ceramic coating called Eclipse. Although Eclipse does not produce the same gloss effect as KENZO, it is however better suited for higher heat and higher abuse areas such as wheels, brakes, axles, front and rear steel bumpers, rock rails, tire carriers and so on. We would apply Eclipse to those areas listed, so as to provide a higher level of protection. Eclipse can and would be applied to all the exterior plastic trim to protect it from abuse and fading. Eclipse can also be used to restore black plastic to a rich black color as well. How is a ceramic coating applied? As with many high-quality ceramic coatings it is a multiple layer application. IGL KENZO is a dual layer ceramic coating (although additional layers can be applied to provide additional protection.) IGL KENZO has a base layer and top layer. Both are applied in the same manner. The vehicle is properly wiped down with a precoat to remove any dust that has settled or any last residual compound and polish. Then the first layer is applied. This is the base coat. During the two-hour base coat curing time, it is best to take this time to apply the ceramic coating to the other areas of the vehicle. Here at RI Motorsports and Detail the other areas are generally included in the ceramic coating package or the client has specifically requested certain areas be coated. The areas that could be ceramic coated would include the wheels, trim, headlights, taillights, brakes, glass and many others. These other areas are sometimes an additional cost and in other cases included in the cost.
