NEO-COLONIAL REVIVAL
The Neo-Colonial Revival style refers to the application of the Colonial-Revival aesthetic that was popularized in the United States in the early twentieth century to later ca . 1940s-1960s domestic architecture . The later examples , however , typically display less distinctive detailing than the earlier twentieth century examples . Defining architectural features of this house type include :
• Red brick and / or white wood exterior cladding ;
• Two-story heights ;
• Decorative , non-functional shutters ;
• Full primary-facade porch ;
• Wood-frame construction ;
• Attached one-story one- or two-car garage ;
• Single-hung windows ; and
• Side-gabled roof .
This house , located in the Tomkins neighborhood remains as a good example of a ca . 1950s Neo-Colonial Revival style dwelling .
