CONTEMPORARY
Contemporary houses feature prominent geometric forms . For the most part , the houses resemble Ranch houses in material and scale , but also include dramatic pitched roof lines or forward-raking porch supports to distinguish its form . Defining architectural features of this house type include :
• Prominent geometric / angular front-gabled roofline with deep overhanging eaves ;
• Minimal ornament ;
• Sheltered entry porch ;
• Attached one-car garage or carport ;
• Wood-frame construction ;
• Banded / ribbon fenestration pattern ; and
• One- or two-story heights .
The house at 906 Marcelus Court in the Threkeld Subdivision features traditional building materials with a slightly angled shed roof to create sloping form . Besides the form of the roofline , the geometric fenestration and patterns on the front door are the only ornamentation .
