Fight For Charity Event Program Fight For Charity 2019 | Page 4

MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR Welcome to Fight for Charity W 2019! We are thrilled to be hosting this great event for the third year running, this year in support of Big Brothers Big Sisters Winnipeg.  Fight for Charity began five years ago in New Zealand, where I am from originally. I have always been passionate about sports and business networking and was looking for a way to combine these two interests and to give back to my community. I decided to host the first corporate charity boxing event supporting “Kiwis for Kiwi”, a local charity aimed at protecting New Zealand’s native wildlife. The event was a huge success and I was amazed at how many people expressed an interest in getting involved in future years, and all the feedback about what an exciting and unique event it was. Flash forward to 2015 when my wife and I moved back to her hometown of Winnipeg. I began working as a business manager for CIBC and quickly discovered how close-knit, community- minded and philanthropic Winnipeggers are. I knew Fight for Charity would be a perfect fit for this city, and that it would give me an opportunity not only to get to know the business sector, but would serve as a fun way to give back to the community that has so warmly welcomed and supported me as a newcomer. Each year, this event has grown by leaps and bounds. We have more than doubled the number of attendees and dollars raised since the first year, and have had the opportunity to support three different and very worthy local charities, all while enjoying a spectacular night of entertainment. I am extremely proud of what we have achieved and grateful to everyone who has joined us on this journey – from the fighters, to the sponsors, to the volunteers, the staff and all of the guests. This event would not be possible without you!  As we get ready to begin the evening, don’t forget to cheer loudly for our amateur boxers! They have been training for several months to get in fighting shape. Be sure to check out the fantastic silent auction and raffle prizes we have up for grabs this year – including an all-inclusive trip to Churchill. Enjoy the casino games, and take in the fantastic live band coming up later tonight. Remember that donations and revenue from tonight’s event will go toward supporting Manitoba’s youth through Big Brothers Big Sisters Winnipeg!  Thank you again for your continued support. I wish you all a fantastic evening! If you would like to provide feedback or get involved in next year’s event, please do not hesitate to reach out: [email protected] DANIEL STRANG Director, Fight for Charity  4 | 2019 Annual Fight for Charity | www.fightforcharity.ca
