Oh gosh , well a lot of people didn ’ t take me seriously , I had to really prove myself , a lot of people would be watching me to see what I was doing . I wasn ’ t really prepared for this , I did find this hard and it stayed with me for a while . A lot of people would ask if I was capable and I thought would you be asking a man this ? I used to get really defensive about it , but I learnt how to overcome this I decided to up my game and perfect my skill and I learned to brush off anything that the guys were saying .
Now you ’ ve got a night you run yourself called Ones & Twos . Tell us little bit more about that .
Well the reason why I started Ones and Twos was because I wanted to be able to shine the light on other DJ ’ s , because when your just starting out especially as a bedroom DJ you need to have the opportunity to play in front of people . Sometimes though I would get established DJ ’ s coming through to play as gave them a chance to play music that they wouldn ’ t normally play and then I would get complete beginners who could just about put the needle to the record .
Now we asked our Facebook readers what do they think about female DJ ’ s , and one response we received said that about 90 % of female DJ ’ s are booked only because of how they look and that they can dress half naked . What would you say to them ?
Where ’ s he getting his statistics from ? How do they know that ? I don ’ t know if that ’ s true or not . I don ’ t know if I could walk into a club half naked with my Mac and my Serato and say book me ! Is it that easy ?

What ’ s your thoughts on female celebrities like Paris Hilton who try their hands at DJ ’ ing ?
I think some do it cause they want to give it a go , but I would say they do need to dig a little deeper and perhaps perfect their skill before going out into the open with it . Someone like Paris Hilton could pay a top top DJ to train her and really perfect the art of DJ ’ ing .
Now for other females who want to DJ , what advice would you give to them ?
Err gosh , I ’ d say it is hard , but there are females out there who make it and make good money out of it . You have to put in 150 % effort in and know what you are willing to do and what you are not willing to do and stick to it . Set yourself a goal and stick to it , but most of all , know that it ’ s a journey , enjoy it . I Love it ! cont ...
