This is an excellent course which prepares you to progress further in a science career . It is designed to allow you to progress in further education , onto HND : Applied Biological Sciences at Fife College , or to a university degree .
Entry requirements
One of the following :
One Higher at Grade C or above in Biology , Human Biology , or Chemistry plus four National 5s at Grade C or above to include Biology , Chemistry , and Maths
Foundation Apprenticeship : Scientific Technologies ( Laboratory Skills ) SCQF Level 6 plus four National 5s at Grade C or above to include Biology , Chemistry , and Maths
Foundation Apprenticeship : Food and Drink Technologies SCQF Level 6 plus one Higher at Grade C or above in any Science subject and National 5 Maths at Grade C or above
National Certificate : Applied Sciences SCQF Level 6
Relevant industrial experience and / or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
HND : Applied Biological Sciences

This excellent course allows routes into a range of science degree courses and employment in the science industry . Students with HNC : Applied Sciences can articulate to year 2 of this HND course .
You will gain a thorough understanding of the principles of science combined with practical laboratory work and a laboratory-based project , which are essential for graduates entering employment .

Direct entry into year 2 ( HND ) requires the full , successful completion of the related HNC with 15 SQA credits .

Using maths enables us to model real-life situations and make connections and informed predictions . It equips us with the skills we need to interpret and analyse information , simplify and solve problems , and make informed decisions .
This course enables you to select and apply straight forward mathematical skills in a variety of mathematical and real-life situations . You ’ ll interpret , communicate , and manage information in mathematical form and cover all the basic groundwork for starting National 5 : Maths .
