This course is ideal for those interested in a career or apprenticeship in mechanical engineering . As well as gaining a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering at SCQF Level 6 , you will also receive a high level of theoretical delivery in preparation for progression to our HNC course in Mechanical Engineering ( which has articulation arrangements in place with various universities throughout Scotland ).
Scottish Wider Access Programmes , also known as SWAP courses , are for adults who have few or no formal qualifications and who have been out of full-time education for at least three years ( five years if you have Highers or an HN ).

Entry Requirements
One of the following :
PLUS
Three National 5s at Grade C or above which must include Maths , and Physics or a Technology subject
National Certificate : Engineering Practice SCQF Level 5
Relevant industry experience and / or other qualifications will be considered on an individual basis
You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process . This group / individual conversation may be an information session , a portfolio discussion , or a skills-based exercise

This course covers a variety of core subjects in the principles of technology and will lead to an SQA qualification that is recognised and sought after by employers . It will equip you with the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career or further study in this field .
