This course has been specifically designed for anyone who wishes to begin a career in the automotive , mechanical , electrical , fabrication and welding , or manufacturing engineering industries . You will undertake a variety of mechanical and automotive vehicle maintenance skills , to assist you to find the area that is right for you .
Entry Requirements
Three National 3s in Maths , English , and a Technology subject with at least one of these areas at National 4 ( or at least an indication of ability to work at National 4 level )
If you are able to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering , have good discipline and the ability to develop your practical engineering skills , you may also be considered

IMI Diploma : Vehicle Fitting Principles

This pre-apprenticeship course in Vehicle Maintenance is specifically designed for those looking to follow a career in the automotive industry . The units taught are mainly automotivebased and are selected to provide a broad spectrum of fundamental skills required to commence a Modern Apprenticeship as a vehicle technician .
Entry Requirements One of the following :
PLUS
Three National 4s which must include Maths , English , and a Technology or Science-based subject
Successful completion of the three National 5 Mathematics Units or the two National 5 English Units will also be acceptable if the applicant has achieved these rather than National 4s in these subjects
Certificate : Introduction to Engineering and Technology EAL Level 1 ( with SCQF Level 4 Maths and English )
Certificate : Gateway to Engineering SCQF Level 4 ( with SCQF Level 4 Maths and English )

IMI Diploma : Transport Maintenance IMI Level 2

This fast-track course covers the same units and course framework as years one and two of a Modern Apprenticeship , meaning that after successful completion and with proven experience and suitable motor trade employment you may start an apprenticeship in year 3 .

Ideally all applicants should have previously completed the IMI Vehicle Fitting Maintenance , and also have Three National 5s at Grade C or above in Maths , English , and a Technology subject
