This course has been specifically designed for anyone who wishes to begin a career in the automotive , mechanical , electrical , fabrication and welding , or manufacturing engineering industries .
You will undertake a variety of mechanical and electrical engineering skills , to assist you to find the area that is right for you .
Entry Requirements
Three National 3s in Maths , English , and a Technology subject ( preferably with at least one of these areas at National 4 , or at least an indication of ability to work at National 4 level )
If you are able to demonstrate a keen interest in engineering , have good discipline and the ability to develop your practical engineering skills , you may also be considered
You may be required to take part in an informal conversation as part of the application process . This group / individual conversation may be an information session , a portfolio discussion , or a skills based exercise
National Certificates : Electrical Engineering and Electronic Engineering
SCQF Level 5 Full-time

On this course you will gain a large amount of practical experience in both electrical wiring installation and electronics . You will be introduced to various wiring techniques for installing domestic lighting and socket circuits using sheathed cable . You will also learn how to wire and install industrial conduit systems using single core cable .
Entry Requirements
Three National 4s or equivalent ( see our Qualifications Explained page for details ) which must include Mathematics , English and a Science or Technical subject
Successful completion of the three National 5 Mathematics Units or the two National 5 English Units will also be acceptable if the applicant has achieved these rather than National 4s in these subjects
In addition , internal applicants will also require a positive Internal Learner Reference ( ILR )

On this course you ’ ll gain a large amount of practical experience in electrical engineering in our wellequipped and modern facilities . You will be introduced to the fundamental areas of electrical principles , wiring , testing , and measurement while also covering hand skills required in electrical engineering .

Certificate : Introduction to Engineering and Technology EAL Level 1
