or segunda vez en su historia, Siria
participará en la Copa Mundial Sub17 de la FIFA. Su única presentación fue
bastante positiva, pues logró avanzar a
los octavos de final en un grupo donde también estaban España, Argentina
y Honduras. Como uno de los mejores
terceros tuvo que enfrentar a Inglaterra,
con la que cayó por 3-1. Pero a esas alturas, ya todo era un premio.
En el Campeonato Asiático comenzó
su grupo con dos igualdades, por lo
que en la última fecha debía ganar a
Irán para clasificar y así lo hizo, dando
la gran sorpresa. En cuartos de final
vencieron a Uzbekistán por 5-2, consiguiendo su pase al Mundial. Ya en la
semifinal, cayó inapelablemente ante
República de Corea, pero el gran objetivo ya se había logrado.

or the second time in its history, Syria
will take part in the FIFA U-17 World
Cup. Their only participation was quite
positive for the Syrian team, because they
managed to advance to the round of 16
in a group that also included Spain, Argentina and Honduras. As one of the best
third they had to face England, where
they lost 3-1. But at this point, it all was a
prize for the Asian team.
In t he Asian Championship they began
their group with two draws, so on the
last date they had to win Iran to qualify
and they did so, giving the big surprise.
In the quarterfinals they beat Uzbekistan
5-2, gaining their pass to the World Cup.
In the semi-final, they lost unappealable
to South Korea, but the main objective
was already achieved.
