on capacidad para casi 30 mil personas, el estadio Ester Roa es el tercero
más grande de Chile. Fue inaugurado en
septiembre de 1962, bajo la gestión del
Presidente Jorge Alessandri y la alcaldesa
que le da su nombre.
Se trata de un recinto con amplia trayectoria albergando torneos internacionales, ya
que fue sede de la Copa Mundial Juvenil
de la FIFA Chile 1987, Copa América 1991
y 2015 y el Campeonato Preolímpico Sudamericano Sub-23 del 2004.
El principal foco del fútbol en la región de
Bíobio comenzó a sufrir con el paso del
tiempo y en 2013, se determinó por parte
de las autoridades locales y del Gobierno
Chileno su completa demolición y posterior remodelación, todo con un costo cercano a los 33 mil millones de pesos.
Hoy cuenta con dos tableros marcadores
de pantallas LED, iluminación estándar
FIFA, modernos camarines, sala de conferencia y una pista sintética de atletismo
con ocho carriles, además de un museo.

i th capacity for more than 30 thousand people, the Ester Roa stadium
is the third largest in Chile. It opened in
September 1962, under the administration of President Jorge Alessandri and the
mayor that gives its name to the facility.
It is a facility with a vast trajectory hosting
international tournaments, as it was headquarter for the FIFA World Youth Championship Chile 1987, Copa America 1991
and 2015 and the U-23 South American
Pre Olympic Championship of 2004.
The main spot of football in the region of
Bio Bio started to suffer with the passing of
time and in 2013 it was determined by local
authorities and the Chilean Government its
complete demolition and subsequent remodelling, all with a cost near the 33 thousand million pesos.
Nowadays it counts with two scoreboards
with LED screen, FIFA standard lightning,
modern dressing rooms, conference hall
and a synthetic field for athletics with eight
tracks, as well as a museum.
