n lugar para vivir la pausada vida de
regiones es Chillán, ciudad fundada
en 1580 que, durante su historia, ha sabido reconstruirse varias veces luego de sufrir catástrofes como terremotos o ataques
durante la época de la colonia.
Famosa por su artesanía, la carta de presentación de esta ciudad es la longaniza,
tradicional embutido que, por su sabor, es
cotizado a nivel nacional.
Es conocida, además, por ser cuna del
Padre de la Patria, Bernardo O’higgins, a
quien se le honra con una feriado en su
natalicio.
Sus construcciones más representativas
son la catedral, que tiene una particular
arquitectura, y su mercado, donde se venden productos típicos de la zona, y que
recibe a miles de visitantes al día.
A una hora conduciendo hacia la cordillera se encuentran las conocidas termas de
Chillán, un complejo termal con propiedades curativas, que cuenta con nueve piscinas de azufre y hierro a una temperatura
promedio de 60º. En invierno, se puede
practicar esquí en una de las 28 pistas habilitadas para tales efectos.

and during its history it has known how to
rebuild itself many times after suffering catastrophes as earthquakes or attacks during
the colony time.
Famous for its handcrafts, the letter of introduction of this city is the longaniza de Chillan, traditional sausage that for its flavour it is
valued at a national level.
This city is also known for being the birthplace of the Father of the Nation, Bernardo
O’Higgins, who is honoured with a holiday
on his birthday.
Its most representative building is the cathedral that has a particular architecture, and
the market, where typical products of the
area are sold, and that receives thousands of
visitors daily.
At an hour driving into the mountains are
the well known Termas de Chillan, a
thermal resort with healing properties,
which has nine sulphur and iron pools
at an average temperature of 60
degrees. In winter, you can practice ski in one of the 28 tracks
enabled for such purposes.
